2022 Inductee:  Mr. Charles Danley, Class of 1982

Mr. Charles Danley is a graduate of Muncy High School from the Class of 1982.  Charles attended Penn State University from 1982 until 1986 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.

Upon graduation from Penn State, Charles joined the United States Air Force where he would remain for the next 20 years.  For 19 of those years in the Air Force Charles specialized in their space and missile program.  Charles was a program manager to transition space surveillance radar from the Navy to the Air Force.  He was the crew lead to analyze and interpret worldwide information systems for possible attack to identify most likely cause of outage and most efficient recovery at Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations.  This was the predecessor of U.S. Cyber Command.  Charles was a crew commander in multiple operation centers throughout his Air Force career.  Their tasks included missile training, space surveillance, space defense, global network operations, and command and control to ensure warfighters had situational awareness, safety and mission effectiveness.  In short, he kept our country and his fellow servicemen and women safe while serving in the United States Air Force.

Major Danley received so many awards in the Air Force that they are too numerous to list.  Just to highlight a few that he received; The Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Outstanding Unit Award with 3 bronze oak leaf clusters, Commendation Medal with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters, and two Meritorious Service Medals with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster each.  Like I said, there are too many to list.  He definitely had a heavy uniform by his retirement in 2006.

Charles Danley earned a Master of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1989 while in the Air Force.  After retirement in 2018 he earned a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from EC Council University.  He has also obtained numerous cyber security certifications since his retirement.

In addition to being a lifetime student, Charles has now been in the private sector of the workforce for 16 years since his retirement from the Air Force.  He currently is employed by Raytheon Information and Space.  He has worked for numerous technology and engineering companies through the years as a cybersecurity engineer and instructor.  In the private sector workforce Charles continues to keep our nation’s cyber networks safe and private citizens safe.

I would like to introduce Mr. Charles Danley as the 25th inductee into the Muncy High School Academic Hall of Fame.  Charles is being inducted for his service to country and his service to the field of science and technology.
